2023 was an exceptionally cool growing season all throughout Caliornia, and particularly in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The winter was very rainy, and budbreak didn't happen until early April, about 4 weeks later than average. After perfect spring and summer weather, we brought in the Peterson Vineyard Pinot Noir on September 26.
Our 2023 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir has a deeper color than our typical SLH. The nose is exactly what you would expect from this appellation with earth, spice, herbal and subtle berry aromas. On the palate, there is a soft and lush feel with perfect acidity and a long finish. This will be at its best from late 2025 through 2034.
